Colorado Springs, CO – The Downtown Creative District and Dizzy Charlie’s Music & Events are proud to announce the launch of the Downtown Summer Music Series, a vibrant new initiative bringing free live music to the heart of Downtown every Thursday evening throughout the summer. Dizzy Charlie’s currently manages multiple free and ticketed live performances at The Best Coffee and Lounge, the Mining Exchange, Louie Louie’s Piano Bar, and the OCC Summer Concert Series in Bancroft Park.
“I love that we’re creating more space for people to enjoy free live music all summer, but it’s also about giving people a place to just be together. Ride your bike over, throw down a blanket, sit next to someone you’ve never met,” said Sara Vaas, owner of Dizzy Charlie’s. It’s about showing up for our local artists, keeping our creative community strong and keeping this city connected. That’s the heart of what we do at Dizzy Charlie’s.”
The new Downtown Summer Music Series will feature live performances in the historic bandshell in Acacia Park every Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m., June through September (weather permitting) beginning June 4. These free, family-friendly events are open to the public and designed to activate Acacia Park with music, energy, and connection, and help visitors discover — and rediscover — the neighboring Downtown businesses.
“As we’ve seen the number of Downtown residents nearly double in the past year, it’s important to have more events like this — opportunities for people to enjoy the Colorado outdoors, make new friends, and discover the talent of local musicians,” said Michelle Winchell, the Director of Creative Economy for the Downtown Creative District. “We know that our region needs more opportunities for performers, and this series supports our artists and local business while bringing new energy to a historic park.”
Organizers are currently seeking corporate sponsors to help underwrite event production costs. Sponsorship opportunities offer exposure to an estimated audience of up to 600 people weekly, inclusion in event promotions, recognition on event signage and websites, and the chance to demonstrate commitment to local community-building initiatives. For sponsorship inquiries, contact Sara at sara@dizzycharlies.com or Michelle@DowntownCS.com.
